CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE ROSSICA TRANSLATION PRIZE 2011


 

Rossica Translation Prize

 

 

AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN RUSSIAN TO ENGLISH LITERARY TRANSLATION

 

We are delighted to announce that entries for the Rossica Translation Prize 2011 are now open.

 

The Rossica Prize is the only prize awarded for the best new translation of a high-quality Russian literary work into English. Literary work must be written in Russian by any author, present or past, and published in English in 2009 and 2010. The prize is open to works published in any country. The value of the prize is £5,000 divided between the winning  translator and the publisher. 

 

The closing date for submission is 31 December 2010. The names of the judges for the Rossica Prize 2011 will be announced shortly. 4 copies of the English translation and 4 copies of the Russian original must be sent to Academia Rossica:

The Rossica Translation Prize is established by Academia Rossica and sponsored by the Foundation of the First President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin. 

 

 

GRANTS FOR TRANSLATION OF RUSSIAN LITERATURE INTO ENGLISH

 

We are also delighted to announce that the Russkiy Mir foundation (Moscow) jointly with Academia Rossica is launching a programme of translation grants to encourage the translation of Russian literature into English. The grants will cover up to 100% of translation cost. The aim of the programme is to give English-speaking readers access to the vibrant contemporary Russian literature scene. The programme will also support translations of Russian classics that are not available in English.
