Ladybird by Vasily Sigarev

4 - 22 December, 7:30 pm

New Diorama Theatre, 15 - 16 Triton Street, Regents Place, London, NW1 3BF

Ladybird tells the story of a group of young people in a run-down, provincial Russian city in the 90's, struggling to find purpose and identity in a wold turned upside down after the collapse of Soviet Communism.

Written by Russian enfant-terrible Vassily Sigarev, the play is tough, tender, vibrant and virtuosic. It draws inspiration from some of the great works of Russian dramatic literature, and has been likened to the contemporay, urban Chekhov for its depth, subtelty, humour and humanity.

Three of Vasilley Sigarev's plays have premiered at the Royal Court in London, with the Evening Standard awarding him the Wintour Award for Most Promising Playwright in 2002 for his play Plasticine.
