Mikhail Shishkin announced as finalist for 2013 Best Translated Book Award


The finalists for the 2013 Best Translated Book Award have been announced, and we are excited to see that the list includes SLOVO guest Mikhail Shishkin’s brilliant novel Maidenhair, translated by Marian Schwartz! Congratulations!


Mikhail Shishkin is one of the greatest contemporary Russian writers and is often compared to writers of revered classics. He has previously won the Big Book Award, the National Bestseller Award and the Russian Booker Prize, and his works have been translated into over 10 languages.


The list of finalists features books originally written in 11 different languages, both in the fiction and poetry categories. The winner of the $5000 prize will be announced on May 3 at the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature in New York. Good luck Mikhail and Marian!
