Dictators Stalin and Hitler may have played different political games, but they were unified in a desire for total censorship. This lack of free speech extended to composers and artists, whose music was questioned by the authorities and the government-run press. This series of events and concerts examines how composers trod precarious paths between artistic freedom and survival.
