Join us for the launch of the first Waterstones Russian Book of the Month. Gaito Gazdanov’s ‘The Spectre of Alexander Wolf’, published by Pushkin Press, is a startling blend of existential mystery and an enthralling avant-garde treatise on life and death. Hear our panel of critics, including the novel’s translator Bryan Karetnyk debate this forgotten classic.
Participants: translator Brian Karetnyk, journalist and writer Vitali Vitaliev, literary critic for the Guardian and the Independent Nick Lezard, writer and literally critic Ivan Juritz, waterstones Russian Bookshop bookseller Maryia Padziarei.
Tickets: £3/£5 (with/without Waterstones Card). A glass of wine is included.
