XXIII Moscow International Book Fair International Lounge events programme

The International Lounge at the Moscow International Book Fair is a space dedicated to communication and co-operation between Russian and foreign publishing professionals. Alongside the extensive programme of seminars and roundtables, it is also a place for negotiations and business communication and acts as an information centre for international networking.
The International Lounge is organised by Academia Rossica with the support from the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication and the Moscow International Book Fair.
The programme of seminars and presentations is focused on the preparation for Russia Market Focus at the London Book Fair 2011.
A series of seminars for publishing professionals “KnowHow!” – “The UK Book Market: its main players, trends, professional associations, possibilities for collaboration” lead by Will Atkinson, Sales and Marketing Director, Faber&Faber (UK), “E-publishing: development strategies, content creation, protection of the intellectual rights, pricing and marketing issues” lead by Anna Rafferty, Director Penguin Digital and Sergey Anuriev, General Direcotor, Litres.
A roundtable debate 'What can we offer the English-Speaking world', held in the International Lounch on the 1st September 2-4pm. Leading Russian publishers (AST, EKSMO, Azbooka-Atticus, ROSSPEN, IDM representatives), literary critics and agents will discuss which publishing products might have the potential for promotion in the UK. The programme of seminars and presentations at the London Book Fair 2011 will be based on the outcome of this discussion. We would like to welcome all publishers to take part in this debate and put forward their projects.
How to Win Over English Readers? – another roundtable debate. Participants include major modern Russian writers (Dmitry Bykov, Mikhail Shishkin, Aleksandr Ilichevskiy, Natalia Ivanova), literary critics (Lev Danilkin and Aleksandr Garros), and translators of Russian literature in the UK and the USA.
The Translator's View: Russian Literature in the English-speaking World – a presentation by the leading translators from Russian into English: Oliver Ready, Marianne Schwarz, Andrew Bromfield, Catherine Porter, Nick Allen and others. The discussion will be chaired by Ekaterina Geniev, Director, All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature.
Guest speakers also include: Steven Rosato (BookExro US), Jim Milliott and George Slowik (Publishers Weekly), Emma Webster (London Book Fair), Svetlana Adjoubei (Academia Rossica) and others.
