We are is delighted to announce the UK premiere of Written By Sergei Dovlatov, a documentary on one of the Soviet Union's most renowned dissident writers. Filmed in several countries, including Russia, Estonia and the USA, and with original music composed by acclaimed Russian group Billy's Band, Written By Sergei Dovlatov is a beautifully crafted film, incorporating fragments from Dovlatov's books, journalism, correspondence and interviews, interspersed with original animated sequences. Together they create a distinctive and insightful portrait of the life and legacy of one of Russia's most renowned cult authors.
Roman Liberov
Roman Liberov graduated from VGIK and currently works as a documentary filmmaker. He spent several years working for the BBC and as part of the Writers Cycle series made several films on the lives of writers and poets, including Yuri Olesha, Joseph Brodsky and Zhora Vladimov.
