George Carey has been making documentaries for over twenty years. He started as a news journalist in the BBC, where he created Newsnight before moving on to become Editor of Panorama. He became an independent producer in in 1988, producing award winning programmes in several different genres. In recent years, he added drama to his company's portfolio, with films like The Government Inspector and Hamburg Cell. His most recent work was a five part documentary series on Russia with Jonathan Dimbleby.
