Patrick is one of Britain's leading documentary film makers, with a particular commitment to quality of image and depth of analysis - his series on the National Trust won both critical acclaim and the Bafta for best factual series, and gave BBC4 its highest ever audience. His subsequent series 'Russian Godfathers' on the battle between President Putin and Russia's former oligarchs for control of the country has now been shown in fifty countries, and won a Grierson award for best documentary series. He began his career as a researcher on the ground-breaking investigative series Secret Society, during the making of which he was arrested and briefly held for alleged violations of the Official Secrets Act. He worked as a producer in current affairs for two years, making the first independent investigations for Panorama before moving on to directing. His work for Oxford includes The National Trust, Battle Of The Robots, The Real Cracker, and Naked News. In 2002, he executive-produced The Lost World Of Tyntesfield, which garnered over 3 million viewers on BBC2.
