biography

Born in 1946 in Moscow, he graduated from Moscow State University with an MA in History of Art. He is the director of the Russian Institute for Cultural Research. He is also a Professor of Film History, Media and Cultural studies at the State Film Institute (VGIK). An internationally renowned film critic, Kirill is a member of the Russian Cinematography Academy, and a lecturer at the Institute for European Culture in Moscow, where he instructs students on directing and script writing. He is the author of more than 600 publications, including books and articles on art history, film, media, cultural policy and development. He organises film festivals and produces TV programmes dedicated to film and art.
