Mikhail Kalatozishvili
biography Born in 1959, in Tbilisi. Mikhail is the grandson of the great Mikhail Kalatozov, a Georgain-Russian filmmaker, who defined the entire period in Soviet cinema with his groundbreaking films like ‘Cranes are Flying' (1958) and ‘Soy, Cuba' (1964). Kalatozishvili is a creator of a cinematic foundation named after his grandfather. Opened in 2000, the foundation has produced a considerable number of films, from feature and documentaries to shorts and TV series. As a producer Mikhail Kalatozov has created five feature films, and his recent work as a director ‘Wild Field' is currently being honoured at various European and national film festivals. The film was selected for 65th International film festival in Venice, and will be arriving to the Russian Film Festival straight after. |
