Russkiy Mir Translation Grants

Russkiy Mir Foundation and Academia Rossica invite publishers to submit applications for grants for new translations of Russian literature.

These grants will help publishers share the riches of Russia’s vibrant contemporary literary scene with an English-speaking audience. By removing one of the biggest financial barriers confronting publishers—the cost of the translation—they will help build new cultural links with Russia and give publishers and readers access to an untapped well of quality literature.

Russian literature continues to have a special place in the hearts of readers across the world, but they have little chance to enjoy its exciting new authors. For this reason, these grants are particularly aimed at translations of contemporary Russian fiction and poetry. New translations of classics and non-fiction will be considered in cases of particular literary and historical merit.

There has never been a better time to introduce Russian books to a new audience. Russia will be the Guest of Honour at this year’s London Book Fair, providing a unique chance for networking and promotion. This event will be the centrepiece of Academia Rossica’s nationwide Russian literary festival. Our new website BooksFromRussia.org provides a gateway into the world of Russian publishing with comprehensive information about books and authors.

Academia Rossica administers these translation grants on behalf of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. For more information on Russkiy Mir, go to www.russkiymir.ru
