Shortlisted entries will be announced at the Pen Literary Cafe at the London Book Fair on Wednesday 22 April at 9.30am. We look forward to seeing you there! Calling all budding translators! Hard on the heels of the successes enjoyed by the Rossica Translators Prize, Academia Rossica is this year launching the inaugural Rossica Young Translators Prize for anyone aged under 25. Judged in tandem with the main Rossica Translation Prize, the winner will be announced at the Rossica Prize ceremony on the 24th May, Day of Saints Kyrill and Methodios, the creators of the Slavic alphabet. The winning entrant will receive £300 and have their translation published in a special edition of Academia Rossica’s journal, Rossica. All entries must reach Academia Rossica on, or before, Friday 10th April 2009. The prize is open to anyone aged 24 or younger on this day. Everyone is eligible to enter as long as they fit the age criteria. Group translations are also permitted, although this must be acknowledged in the submission. Translators must select their text from the following three short stories/extracts by contemporary Russian authors, never before published in English: Submissions may be e-mailed to [email protected].
